Homosexuality

So what do we think about this big and usually intense issue? Are people born gay? Do people become gay? Is the church to closed to gay people? Is our government right to not recognise their relationships legally? does 'God hate fags'?

What does the bible say? I know at some point someone will post verses from leviticus. That's fine, it saves me searching for them, but what ELSE does the bible have to say?

There is so much in the media about these issues. What should Christians think. I'll wager a can of coke now that we are going to have some vastly polar opinions.

Do we make general sexual sin a separate topic or combine it into this one?

Do homosexuals need help though? What are we helping them with? We certainly dont act the same way around any non-christian friends who might be sleeping around. How do we know that some of our Christian friends that we hang around with aren;t homosexual anyway? It's certainly going to bein the church that we find homosexuals afraid to come out.

It think (and its only my opinion) that many gay people relate sexually to their own gender due to stuffed up relationship with one or both parents. It is who they are. I don't think they can be changed. Like any of us who struggle with sin inside ourselves, we know that those desires may never go away. We just have to keep dealing with them, and not let them come between us and God.

Who we have sex with shouldnt stop us from knowing God.

One of my good friends at uni happens to be gay. I'm also friends with a goth/emo, an international student, and some other people.

A common theme here, is that they are all struggling for identity, and are looked down on by "society" (a bit like Christians (wry smile))

They are really good friends though. And they all need help- not because they are gay, or weird, or whatever. They need help because they don't know Jesus personally (yet!)
